Coastal Cleanup Day 2025 Success!

In Ventura County alone, over 900 volunteers showed their appreciation for Ventura County and our wonderful watersheds.

On September 20th, 2025, individuals throughout California participated in the state’s largest annual volunteer event— Coastal Cleanup Day (CCD)! CCD is organized by the California Coastal Commission in partnership with many NGOs and local government partners. According to the California Coastal Commission, nearly 20,000 volunteers participated in the 2025 cleanup.

Ventura County specifically had over 15 sites ranging from Simi Valley to Ventura. In Ventura County alone, over 900 volunteers showed their appreciation for Ventura County and our wonderful watersheds. These volunteers collected an astonishing 7,053 pounds of trash and 624 pounds of recycling. Among the debris, sites noted a variety of unusual items — bicycles, suitcases, mattresses, tires.

A big thank you to the California Coastal Commission, the Ocean Conservancy, our Regional Coordinator Heidi Ortloff, Site Captains, and Volunteers for making Coastal Cleanup Day a success!
