We are so grateful to be working with Mama Tree Farm and Operation Flame to assist in stewarding the Oak Woodlands to fire harden the oaks and neighboring structures for the safety of community and health of the forest.

VCRCD have been working with Mama Tree Farm to protect Coast Live Oaks and peoples homes on Mama Tree Property and neighboring properties by brushing, thinning, and piling dead and down oaks from the 2017 Thomas Fire Scar. We have burnt a total of 7 piles, around 7 tons of heavy fuels, predominantly dead oak and some toyon.

VCPBA lit the first pile with volunteers. VCPBA, Mama Tree Farm, and Operation Flame worked together this Thursday to lite 4 burn piles (~4 tons of fuel). We are so grateful to be working with Mama Tree Farm and Operation Flame to assist in stewarding the Oak Woodlands to fire harden the oaks and neighboring structures for the safety of community and health of the forest.
