Mark Mooring

President

Mark Mooring has been a Ventura County ranch owner since 1990. In 2006 he planted an olive orchard that has now grown to over 3200 trees. New to farming, he has learned the value of stewardship of the land and the natural resources that abound in Ventura County. Managing the ranch has many facets that are shared throughout Ventura County’s agriculture community. The intense work and ever challenging environment prompted Mark to seek assistance from the Ventura County Resource Conservation District. This relationship developed when Mark was appointed as a board member, with him ultimately agreeing to serve as the Board President.

Roy Talley

Vice President

Roy recently retired after 40 years with Solar Electronics Company in North Hollywood where he was the Chief Operating Officer. Roy is a former City Councilmember and Planning Commissioner for the city of Moorpark. He served as a member of the Ventura County Waterworks District 1 Citizen Advisory Board from 1995 to 2022. Roy is a long time resident of Ventura County moving to the county compliments of father being transferred to Oxnard Air Force Base (currently Camarillo Airport) 1952. Moving to Moorpark in 1958 after father retired. Roy is educated in electric and electronic engineering specializing in Electromagnetic Interference.

Kevin Cannon

Treasurer/Secretary

Kevin has been on the board since 2012. He retired from Amgen in 2006 after a 30 year career in applied computer science. Kevin has been farming avocados at his home in the Santa Rosa Valley since 1995 and is a benefactor of both VCRCD and NRCS conservation programs. He has also served as a council member on the Santa Rosa Valley Municipal Council since 2013.

 

 

 

Sean Anderson, Ph.D

Director

Sean is a professor of environmental science and resource management at the California State University Channel Islands. Sean holds a Ph.D in Marine Population Biology from UCLA. Sean also holds positions on the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Advisory Committee, CA’s Sustainable Seafood Initiative Panel and the Council on Ocean Affairs.

 

 

Brianne Whitcomb

Director

Brianne Schwabauer Whitcomb is a Policy and Advocacy Coordinator for Ventura County Coalition of Labor, Agriculture, and Business (VC CoLAB), where she works to support policies that strengthen the local agriculture and business communities.  As an active member of a fourth-generation family farming business, she serves as a NextGen Advisor for Leavens Ranches LLC and Internal VP of Ventura County – California Women for Agriculture. With a B.S in Agricultural Communications from Oklahoma State University, Brianne is committed to advancing conservation efforts and sustainable farming practices in the region.

Remington Richardson

Director

My name is Remington Richardson, and I am a 6th-generation avocado and citrus farmer in Ventura County. I work for Quality Ag. Inc., which is a ranch management and construction company, and my role within the company is head of the Ag Division. I have a B.S. in Crop Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and I am a licensed PCA and QAL. My goal for serving on the board is to assist in any way possible to increase communication between the ag community and the public. Education is the best way for all non-ag residents to see how vital and important it is that we protect our agriculture and natural resources within the county.

Misty McNamara

Director

Misty McNamara is a seasoned business operations leader with extensive experience in ranching, financial management, and strategic business development. With a passion for agriculture and a proven track record in operational efficiency, Misty has successfully managed diverse roles across livestock management, construction, and technology.

As the Co-Owner of Drummond Livestock & Cattle Co., Misty has spent over a decade overseeing all aspects of cattle ranch operations, including herd management, financial oversight, and sustainable grazing practices. She is deeply committed to responsible land and animal stewardship.

In addition to her agricultural expertise, Misty has a strong background in financial management and business operations. With over 20 years experience as Operations Manager/Controller, she has been responsible for overseeing financial operations, project budgeting, and process optimization for multi-million-dollar projects. Her strategic planning skills increased profit margins and streamlined financial processes, demonstrating her ability to drive business growth through operational improvements. Misty has led product development of a start-up tech company, managing a cross-functional team and serving hands on as the Product Architect, planning and implementing infrastructure and UE design, and testing.

Misty also plays a key role in her and her husband’s business, Drummond Machinery, where she manages purchasing, invoicing, media strategy, and client relations. Her experience in digital marketing, brand development, and financial administration has been instrumental in expanding the company’s market reach.

An active leader in the agricultural community, Misty serves as Treasurer and Board Member of the Ventura County Cattlemen’s Association. She was honored as Cattlemen of the Year in 2016, recognizing her dedication to the ranching industry and her contributions to local agricultural initiatives. Misty currently also serves of the Board of Directors for Ventura County Resource Conservation District.

Misty holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix, along with Specialized Associate Degrees in Accounting and Executive Office Administration from Empire College School of Business. She is known for her leadership, strategic planning, and commitment to the agricultural and business sectors.

Misty was raised in Northern California on a dairy farm, where she developed a deep-rooted passion for agriculture and livestock. She enjoys a life centered around the outdoors. She finds joy in riding horses, baking, anything creative, and checking on the cattle.
